Company president, Ray Maietta, has co-authored an article with John Creswell that appears in the current edition of the "Handbook of Research Design and Social Measurement." This article, "Systematic Procedures of Inquiry and Computer Data Analysis Software for Qualitative Research," informs much of our work with clients.

We think it is critical for qualitative scholars to carefully consider which qualitative package best suits their needs. Current marketing materials and feedback from users prove uneven and inconsistent with the balance of features and functionality of major packages. After attending one of our comparison sessions, which are informed by material from the "Handbook of Research Design and Social Measurement" article, we find that a good number of scholars adopt a package that is not the one that they originally intended to use and others switch from packages they have used in the past.

Currently our services focus on several major QDA software packages:

  · ATLAS.ti

  · ETHNOGRAPH 5.0

  · HyperResearch 2.5

  · MaxQDA and WinMAX

  · QSR Products: Classic N4, N6, NVIVO, Merge for NVIVO

We ground our QDA software skills integration sessions in discussions of qualitative process. Work sessions are organized around tasks critical to QDA rather than around features of the software (ex. we discuss strategies for data organization rather than simply describing HyperResearch 2.5 case cards).

Our skills integration and consulting services can focus at introductory, intermediate, advanced, and overview levels for each package. In addition, we offer comparison seminars and work sessions. Comparison seminars can focus on all packages we offer. Comparison work sessions can focus on three packages; however, two are ideal.
